In identifying locations of finds and current holdings I have used modern country names and borders. Given the state of the world, these may occasionally become out of date. No political statement is intended by the data in these fields -- the goal is to make it easy for the user. Future versions of this interface may add options for selecting a larger region, for using country selections to narrow down the list of sites, or for choosing location using a map interface rather than text. The original version of this database had only a single location field rather than the current distinction between find site, culture of origin, and current location. Some records may still have confusion between these items. All records have data in the "country of find" field with perhaps 80% having a specific find site listed. Relatively few have data in "country of origin (if different)". About half have data in the "current location" fields with both site and country given.
