Shepherds Purse: manuscript - Burgundishes Brevier

Return to main page

This is from the calendar section of a book of hours from the 15th century, showing the first part of April. From what is visible, it is difficult to identify the items clearly as Shepherds Purses, as opposed to sash belts. The one worn by the reclining man is thick enough to have contents, but the woman's looks more like a belt.
